The last formal count was in 2000, and they came up with a population of 281,421,906.

It's estimated to be just slightly over 300 million people now.

No one really knows, because we dont know how many illegals are here. It is estimate between 12 and 20 million.

So we have somewhere between 300 and 320 million people in the US.

Just remember that this is just a number of "legal" people who are counted in a census and/or pay their taxes. There are a whole lot more than that.
