Yep, that is wrong. Consult your company handbook and see what it says about obscenity and harassment, then go to your human resources person.

Discrimination is illegal only if it's against a member of a legally protected group. And us fruits (yes, I know that wasn't the word your idiot mgr used) are NOT protected in all states. Or at all companies.
P.S. How do you wear your hair, man? The long flowing look that *I* love and that was gay for a little while, and then hippy, is now mostly on (probably or actually) str8 construction workers.

Yes not only was it very discriminatory and unprofessional, but it was very rude. If this person is willing to go out of their way to make a rude statement as they did to you, they have probably done that to many many more that you don't know about. If you have a human resources department, you should say something to them. This person could get sued for a comment like that.

You need to report your assistant manager to your manager. This was most definitely wrong.

Of course it was wrong, homophobic, and discriminatory. You could report it to HR. Did you know it is completely legal to tape a personal conversation (not on the phone)? I'd do that to have proof for HR.

That was wrong. Laws prohibit managers of discrimminating against employees because of gender or sexual orientation. You should confront your manager about it.
Besides, how can you wear you hair like a f****t? There's no such thing.

Tell your assistant manager to mind his business. He can make comments as long as he doesn't use discriminatory and insulting terms like that.

that was totally wrong. you should have replied,
"you tell me, since you seem to know so much about it". That would've been a total blow to his smug homophobic ego, cause you'd be implying that he's gay, which would've just shut him up. (not that there's anything wrong with being gay, but i dont think that comment would have rested well with him.)

It is rude, crude and highly undesirable.
He is just trying to upset you.
If he persists, take action.
