If you discontinued taking prescribed antibiotics before you were told to do so, thinking you were completely cured just because you felt a lot better, and then the nearly but not completely cured infection reappeared, then you've probably learned the hard way not to do that again, just as I once did.

There are no stupid questions....No they are different things. If you think you might have one or the other and are unsure you can check for a Yeast Infection pretty easily. If you go to the store and get the Vagisil Yeast Infection checker, it will tell you right away if you have a yeast infection. If your vagina itches or burns and you have discharge of either white or yellow. Then chances are you have a yeast infection. You can also have cramps in your stomach with a yeast infection. For bladder infections, you feel as though you have to pee all the time and when you go nothing comes outs or very little. You will need to drink a lot of cranberry juice. The Azo will make you pee orange! They say it's not a good idea to take it a lot, because it has iodine in it. I believe there is a checker for that also. But I have never used it. I tend to get the yeast infections more. I would do the checkers first and then once you find out go from there. Good Luck

A bladder infection is caused by bacteria entering your urethra and growing in your bladder. Once it reaches that point it grows very fast and can make you sick, causing fever and even at worse kidney problems!
The main cause of the bacteria is cleanliness. It has to be there before it can enter, then it has to be there for a while. Sex doesn’t have anything to do with it. It is the spreading of germs. The way you have sex might spread the germs, but sex doesn’t cause the infection. You want to make sure that you and your partner are clean.
Oh and one last thing make sure you wipe the correct way (front to back) in some situations ecoli is a leading cause for a bladder infection.

While a UTI or a bladder infection can be caused by sexual intercourse (the act of the penis moving in and out of the vagina irritates the urethra and pushes bacteria back up into it), they are not solely caused by sex. They can be caused by wiping after using the restroom the wrong way, wearing underwear or pants that are too tight, poor hygiene, or many other things that aren't your fault (you could be the cleanest person in the world, not have sex and still end up with an infection!).

You can get UTIs not exactly from having sex, but if one or both of you has bacteria present. Pre-sex showers are a must.
Also, with women more than men, (because of the arrangement of our anatomy) it is imperative that when we have a B.M., we cleanse from front to back -- never toward the front. Some of us use disposable cleansing wipes (like "Wet Ones") after a B.M. They come in a canister for home use and in packs so you can keep one or two in your purse.
Re: cranberry -- it also comes in gel caps - available in any drugstore O.T.C. Each cap with 8 ounces of water equals a glass of juice. I like these because it saves drinking all that juice and cuts out a few calories.

They aren't from sex. They can be caused by stress. Drinking cranberry juice really works if you drink a lot! Good luck!
