Dee,
Jamaica is 4,250 miles from the U.K and its a blinking long flight as well at 10 hours! Done it many times, you´ll enjoy it! just go to sleep.
Er Ricky, Air Jamaicas A340 go the shorter route over coastal Miami, I used to go with British Airways B747-300 ( A340s are not as fast as 747s) and they go over by Turks and Caicos Islands and thats, 4.250 miles but definitely 10 hours in the air ! at 500 mph most modern aircraft wont fly the route in under 10 hours. Flying to South Americas north coast is also 10/11 hours from London and the distance is a bit greater/ farther South than to Jamaica.
