I don't understand how this is breaking the law? Since when is it illegal for a kitty to eat a praying mantis? I think your kitty will be perfectly fine. If it makes you feel better, my cat is 9 and he has eaten spiders (they are his favorite), palmetto bugs (big ugly black cockroach species), crickets, and house flies. Just watch your kitty, but I am she will be fine!

I don't believe praying mantises (praying mantese? I'm not sure what the plural is) are poisonous to cats. Most things that are poisonous to cats probably also taste bad, so she wouldn't have eaten it in the first place. I've seen cats eat insects before, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Just watch her to make sure she doesn't get sick or anything.

As an expert on mantis behavioral psychology, i can say absolutely that it's not praying, however is genuinely announcing grace after devouring her mate, and having a coupla juicy ants for dessert.

Cats regard insects as 'fast food`.
It's normal. The mantis is not poisonous.
The courts are unlikely to prosecute.
Don't worry.

Its illegal for a cat to eat a praying mantis? I don't think they'll bring her up on charges. Just keep an eye on her and take her to the vet if she shows any strange behaviour or digestive symptoms.

Cats eat bugs all the time though.

I am from the National Organization Preventing Endangered Mantis Abuse Now, and I will need to speek to your cat regarding this incident, when he is released from kitty intensive care, after he has his stomach pumped.

As an expert on mantis behavioral psychology, i will assert surely that it is not praying, yet is truly asserting grace after devouring her mate, and having a coupla juicy ants for dessert.

She wouldn't have eaten it if it tasted bad(a.k.a. it was poisinus), so the only other options would be if she hadn't fully chewed it, or it was still alive when it went into her stomach (which can happen). If she starts acting weird, maybe take her to the vets but i think she;s gonna be fine.
Good Luck

Preying mantises are not poisonous. They kill by their strength and hunt by their visual acuity (they are the only insect that can turn it's head to any extent, too).

It is not illegal for your cat to kill and eat a preying mantis unless you caught it and fed it to her. LOL..if it comes up say it attacked your cat and she was defending herself.

Under most circumstances when a cat eats something that's not good for them, they'll throw it back up. If your cat doesn't throw it up and she continues to act normally, I wouldn't worry.

(And don't worry. I think your cat is safe from being arrested.)
