The crowds in vegas during august are pretty big if you go during the weekend. The crowds can get a little hostile, I mean who wouldnt in 100 degree heat. BUT, on the otherhand, most people are on vacation and are in a pretty good mood - baring that they arent losing their life savings.
The crowds at some popular buffets and some of the popular attractions (like the fountains of Bellagio, etc.) as well as the trendy clubs (RAIN, PURE, TAO) will be packed - but that's not necessarily bad.
I actually love going in the summer heat - its like a reminder (though unbearable at times) that I am in Vegas, that I can go swimming even at 7 o'clock and it will still feel great. Plus, during the weekdays, the crowds are not too bad (though still a hefty crowd gathers on the sidewalks walking from casino to casino).
Expect large and crowded walkways, buffets, and clubs - the gaming tables and a sit down restaurants should be fine, as well as the shopping centers. The theatres for the popular shows will be hard to get tickets for, but once you do, it will be nice there - not too crowded at all.
Hope this helps and have fun!
p.s. THe airport will be crowded, and when you exit the terminal, the initial blast of heat hits you hard - but so does the excitement.

The crowds here in Vegas vary depending on the events taking place at the time . Most of the time people are fairly well behaved but during events like NBA all star weekend the people were extremely rude. August is a little warm for some people 100 plus and it is our monsoon season so you might actually see rain if your lucky. During the day due to the heat many people hang by the pool or inside the casinos. At night is when the fun starts anyways from production shows night clubs fine dining you name it.

The crowds aren't that bad. It's a lot of people, but just like you there all on a mission to see what they can. Most people go to Vegas to gamble, so I'd imagine in the casinos it'd be a little wild. I'd say for the most part, the only people you should watch out for are the people I call "card-slappers". These "card slappers" are basically people lined up all down the strip, and as you walk by they flick these cards and try to force them on you. (It's basically little business cards of porn). I'm leaving in a couple days. I'll be there for a week. If this question is still open, I'll let you know how it was. But I think you'll be fine...just don't drive in Vegas!

the heat will be bad, but we just made it through a heat wave here.. if you walk around outside, just take alot of water with you. it may not seem like you are outside long or the casinos are that far apart, but if its 110 outside you can dehydrate.
the crowds are crazy here at times. especially on the weekend or if something big is in town. some people are rude/angry, but most just mind their own business and don't bother you....

No one is rude here.
You have to understand one thing in this town. No one cares about you and what you are doing. The focus is on the individual. You will enjoy this place, but if you seek attention, then go elsewhere.
This is the greatest place on the face of the earth. Clean, bargAINS AND lovely weather.
Hot in August no humidity
