Does this present a dangerous loophole in our National Security? Is it as goofy an oversight as open borders? Would the gun lobby and the 'Right to Own a Weapon No Matter What; right wing Republican Party' back up this brick wall reasoning because the 2nd amendment says that every insane idiot, mental defective has a right to own automatic weapons to hunt deer and squirrels?
No this loophole hasn't been closed yet! Will it ever? Probably not!
thanks

For an unlicensed dealer to sell guns has been illegal most places for many years. Enforcement is another matter. And as the fake-patriotic neocons proved once again in Congress last week with their defeat of the immigration bill, they have no interest in closing such loopholes anyway.

The NRA is working hard to prevent anything that smacks of gun control. They have no problem with terrorists having guns. The NRA actuallt believes arming people makes the world a safer place

I have no idea if that has happened yet, but I am totally for gun control. This is one of the areas where I do not agree with fellow conservatives (the other is the death penalty). I also believe that we should include the medical health of a person in the background check if we do not wish to have another Virginia Tech like incident.

It really does not seem to matter how strict the laws are regarding the purchase of guns, criminals will always find a way to obtain guns if they want to.
There are always people who are willing to participate in illegal activities if the money offered is enough, unfortunately for those of us that are law abiding citizens.

I think the Dems and Reps compromised on this during Clinton's administration. I hope Congress did something about this, or is going to. We should mandate background and mental health exams before allowing ownership.

I believe that to enter a gun show as an exhibitor, you must be licensed. I am licensed to carry weapons and my own license is renewed on a yearly basis.
I don't disagree that we need to be a lot more stringent as we used to be when it comes to licensing people to carry or own fire arms. My concern is disarming those who are above board and legal. :)
