Generally, where you find one you will find more. It is true that they like dark places, but a little sunlight won't bother a cockroach considering they can live with their heads cut off for weeks. Your best method to stop these pesky creatures from continuing to thrive is to make sure you plug all water holes such as sink and be sure there is no food on the floor. Check out the two sources below for even more details accounts of how tenacious these critters are.

I work in NYC and let me tell you roaches are never alone. If you see one you will see more. I am not going to give you any scientific information, just what I have experienced. They spread by the hundreds and follow the scent of were other roaches have been. They are horrible insects to deal with, and you probably will not be able to get rid of them on your own. You must call an exterminator right away before they spread and the problem get worse.

A roach is a small freshwater fish. I think you are talking about cockroaches. If you are talking about the fish, they travel in schools not herds or packs. The word "cockroach" comes from the Spanish "cucuracha" and has nothing to do with either cocks or roaches.

i would say alone because i also found a roach, but it was in a dark place in my bedroom. roaches can be in either a dark or light place. i don't think there will be more roaches, but look out just in case.

You might want to put out some bait traps. I don't think that they travel in groups, but where there is one there is usually more. Put a bait trap (raid makes some) behind your toilet and under your sink. I hate roaches. It was probably coming in for water. They are extremely hardy bugs.

Roaches travel in groups called "skamps". You may have an entire skamp in your bathroom, and more elsewhere in your house. Try installing roach hotels, that may work.
