My family was way patriotic. Same with my area military aircraft doing displays people screaming there heads off.

We had the guns out on the yard shooting fireworks.

God what a good day.

I also made a new friend :) a blue heeler puppy came to me without a colar on the highway coming home.

As I drove some kids back to their home, we were able to see, from the highway, all the people shooting off illegal fireworks from their neighborhoods. They were going off on both sides of the highway... they were so beautiful... I hope no one was injured ... but, I have to say, I sure enjoyed the display. We took the long way home, so that we could enjoy the fireworks all along the way. And they were there... all along the way. It was great fun! Hopefully they were not ALL illegal... I guess I kind of feel a weensy bit guilty for having enjoyed all the displays.

Ok... I guess enjoying someone else's illegal activity is not patriotic. So, to answer your original question. *sigh* :
Not very.

I spent the day with my family. First, we went to the 4th of July Parade. My grandson was King of the Parade! He rode in a little float made for him and the Queen, they are both 5 years old. My oldest daughter walked the parade route and sold balloons and later sold cotton candy. We all stood up and saluted our flag as it went by. A float with several W W II vets came by and we all stood and wildly applauded! The kids all collected candy that the paraders threw out to them!

After the parade, the kids went to the park for more festivities and fun while my Darling and I stayed in out of the HOT sun! It was over 100 degrees! When evening fell, we went to some friends home and ate a nice bbq dinner. The kids lit sparklers and set of some fireworks. My son in law, the cop, threw fireworks at the kids and at the other cops! Law and Order, you know!

At dark, we all took our chairs across the road, into a field and watched a very nice fireworks show! It was a wonderful day!

I said a prayer of Thanksgiving for those brave men who put their lives, fortunes and sacred honor on the line in 1776 so that we can live free!

I spent a beautiful day home with my other half this independence day. And it felt great just to do nothing. In a hectic world where we forget sometimes to sit back and relax in our homes, it was important to spent some leisurely times with the one you love. We slept in, than we got ready, went out for the restaurant. Than went to the Book store. read great books. Later got home and had a great BBQ dinner at home on our west side patio. From there we enjoyed the Fireworks that all arround poped up at about 10pm. Our dogs do not like the noice and they both went into hidding . But we enjoyed the tranquillity of our home. How beautiful and gracicious skys. God Bless the United States of America. And Blessings to our troops and hope they all come home in one piece!

"Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel."

-Samuel Johnson, 1775

True patriotism has nothing to do with guns, fireworks or military displays. Patriotism, in the positive sense, is striving at every moment to see that your country acts honorably and in ways to be proud of, not cheering as we glorify senseless killing. Our country has not acted honorably for years now, and the trend does not seem likely to change.

spent the day enjoying the fact that because of our soldiers around the world we are FREE ... we do not have to be afraid to go out for fear of being blown up. we dont fear war in our backyard. so with these thoughts in my mind my dog and I ventured out in 95 degree heat at 930 at night to see the fireworks. and people were out in record numbers to pay tribute in the same way. and shoulder to shoulder we stood with strangers to watch the display of freedom to our land. thanking those that keep it FREE
