a few friends from work are planning to go to the zoo. but the one girl(22yr) just quit with no notice, she was suppose to work 3 days last week and since she didn't I had to work through my whole shift without a break, because if I took a break it would have left the manager to handle the front service and the drive thru for 35 minutes and I couldn't do that to the manager. Before the girl left I told her the others would meet at work and drive up together, but I was thinking we shouldn't include her with us because of leaving us shorthanded at work and she quit. she gave me her number if things change, so i was thinking of either: 1) calling and telling her we decided we didn't have the money to go-but go anyways or 2) don't call, don't meet at work like I told her, let her figure it out on her own and just meet somewhere else and go to the zoo without her.
which should be ok?

we are not friends outside of work. this is the first time we have decided to do anything outside of work. Do I tell her : sorry but we rather not go with you but go by ourselves , since you quit on us. is that what I should tell her over the phone.? her sister works with us still, won't saying that hurt her and make her quit too.?

Don't make up an excuse or lie to her.Lies always come back to haunt you.
Maybe she had a legitimate reason for not giving notice,There are always two sides to every story.
If she is a good friend, there is no reason why she shouldn't be included in going to the zoo.
It was great of you to fill in for her and help the manager, but maybe one day someone may have to do the same for you.You never know what may happen.
Don't worry about such small things.Go to the zoo and have a great time.

Ok by law you need to take a half hour break. If you chose not to take your break because you didnt want to leave the manager short handed then thats on you. Managers are suppose to be prepaired for letting employees take required breaks. Now as for the person who quit, she didnt quit because of you of anything you did so why not include her in your trip? You all made plans to go now you cant tell her she cant go. Just because your upset about having to work through your break isnt her fault, its your fault for not taking it. Get a spine and start standing up for yourself or else your manager is going to take advantage of you. If you feel you cant take your breaks for fear of getting fired then call OSHA! Grow up little girl, its just the ZOO!

OH MY GOD!!! only a woman would consider being so petty about all this crap... first you don't know the whole story because you are not her. second you said that you were all friends. If this is how you treat someone whom you have called a friend then if i were her I would drop you and find a real friend. and as for your boss... it is his job to deal with being short handed thats what they pay him for. by you not taking your breaks you kept him from having to call some in to help cover and most likely saving him money on over time so he screwed you kid and you thought your friend did that? now kiddo you did that to your self by not taking your break which mandatory by law... grow up girl and go have fun with all your friends and you better hope that if you ever find your self in a mess that your so called friends don't bail out on you .... you females let you feelings rule you to much next time think before you decide ti kill a friendship.

I think that instead of lying to her and such, you should tell her the truth. But really, if you were good friends, then you would still be friendly to her even though she quit on you guys at work. Your work life isn't everything, remember that.
