Here is the thing my Fiancee use to be a big drugie when he was younger and he went to rehabe done all that. Well its been going on two years since we have been togeather but his bee off the meth for 21/2 or 3 years thats what he tells me and his family. For the past two months his family and my family even people at work are asking him whats up with his arms. He keeps telling everyone its from flea bites and keeps getting upset with everyone for asking if he back on the drugs. When his mom and brother had called him he got really pissed off and hung up the phone. His sister was staying with us for awhile and told me she knows that he isnt but she could be wrong. The reason im really thinking he is back on the drugs b/c when I went over to my moms house my step dad asked me why is his arms so broke out and yours and the kids arent. So my question is can you still get them break outs later on if your not on them and how can I tell if he is . I dont know how b/c i keep all the money.

Dealing with a past user can be a delicate situation. You have to be careful not to make him feel like you are watching his every move, that kind of pressure could drive him to start using again. Some things to look out for are, if he has started to hang out with his old friends again and obviously if he has lost weight. Meth is only very rarely injected so why not give him the benefit of the doubt.. Do not accuse him unless you have solid evidence. With all the people asking him all about his arms and stuff, the last thing he needs is another person close to him asking about it.

When you say meth are you talking about methadone.or speed. Look at his arms really close when you can, if he is using again the needle marks will just be on his veins and no where else.It wouldn't look like flea bites as he put it. If a jobless person and homeless can find money for drugs your husband sure can. When you want or need drugs you will find money to buy the drugs that isn't the hard part the hardest part is hiding it from everyone. Sounds like he is using again if you love him and you are willing to stand by his side while he gets the help he needs it can work i have seen it over and over many times.Sometimes Rehabs. don't work only because they are not ready to stop and maybe never will be that's when getting into a Methadone clinic for 30 days up to a year will help him. They go everyday for their medicine that keeps them from getting sick.It does work for a lot of people. What you have heard or seen on TV is a very small side of it and everyone hears about the bad things never the good it does for a lot of people. The people who will give me a thumbs down on what I'm telling you are the ones who has never been around someone with a drug problem or has walked away from someone they were close to at one time or another. This is for you people that look at the world be hide locked doors, everything isn't black and white like you think it is .

Only drug users themselves really know, and its even possible to lie to yourself...

...sad, but true.

There's always a way to find the money to get the drugs.

I would NOT recommend going behind his back. Open and honest communication is vital. Trust has to be established in both directions.

The motivation to stop must come from within and not coerced from the outside. You can help but you have to be in his corner, on his side and NOT be just another enforcement officer. There's enough of those already and they obviously don't work.

Instead of focusing on the drugs themselves, focus on more positive things like overall health and family. If there truly is a drug problem (and there likely is) you have to find a way to help him see that there are better things in life.

We all want happiness but pleasure is not always happiness and he has to learn this. He probably already knows this at some level. You have to respect his intelligence. Its just a weakness not a lack of humanity. You have to help him direct his thoughts more to what he probably already knows but is scared to admit.

If you are just another accuser and judge, then he will just crawl back into the cave.

How are his pupils?
Has his personality or behavior changed?
Here are the signs to watch for:
--dilated pupils and rapidly darting eyes
--obsessive, figety behavior or repetitive behaviors, cleaning
--frequent sweating
--Skin lesions and sores--meth makes healing hard and makes users feel like insects are crawling on or under their skin and can make them nervously pick at their skin
--Weight loss/loss of appetite
--Sleeplessness--sometimes for days at time
--crashing--sleeping extended periods after being up for days and feeling depressed
--Difficulty focusing or thinking--fuzzy feeling after stopping meth that can last 2 yrs or more--often leading person to relapse
--strange odor in the house from cooking it down if he injects it

Those are pretty much all the signs I can think of, but his defensiveness worries me. The breakouts should not be occuring 2 yrs. after quitting. Get him to a doctor for a physical in case it is a vitamin deficiency or other problem, but my bet is the meth is back. Sorry and hope I am dead wrong. It is so addictive though that living without it feels like you are a shell. I am sure he misses it.

Methamphetamines stimulate the central nervous system, and the effects may last anywhere from 8 to 24 hours. Like cocaine, it is a powerful "upper" that produces alertness, and elation, along with a variety of adverse reactions. After the effects of methamphetamine wears off, it can cause severe withdrawal that is more intense and longer lasting than both speed and cocaine. After the initial "rush," there is typically a state of high agitation that in some individuals can lead to violent behavior.

The effects are not only long lasting, but continue to cause damage to the user long after use has stopped.

Addiction to methamphetamine can be very strong, therefore withdrawal symptoms are likely when use of the drug is discontinued.

WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS

severe craving
insomnia
restlessness
mental confusion
depression

I hope this helps :-)

follow him everywhere for a 24 hour period. no junkie can abstain that long.
back around 1994, anthony kiedis from the red hot chili peppers started using drugs again after a 5 year sobriety. he was smoking crack all the time, he was driving with his girlfriend who needed to pop into a store so he pulled the crackpipe out and took a hit, next thing he knows there was a tap on the window and it was her. she hit the roof.
you can catch him red handed too, and the shame will force him to go to rehab.
