Its interesting that, sometimes poor people feel hopeless, and to some degree its true, no matter which party is in power they are still going to be poor, their stake in the outcome is limited. When you have something to lose, you tend to yell, when its your home, your income, your kids, you make a noise. Noisemakers get listened to. Contributors get listened to also.
Lets not forget that a good many low income people have a slew of other problems too, health, transportation, the elderly, the alcoholic or drug addict, the people with psychological or emotional problems. What keeps them low income isn't always just available jobs, sometimes its endemic to their situation in life.

Actually the lowest 20% of wage earners have seen the highest increase in income as a percent. Of course 5% of $10k isnt a lot but none the less we should deal with facts. Poor people do not vote as much because they are not as well educated and do not understand the system generally speaking they are simple people. This would hold true for lower income workers not necessarily those making even $25k. The funny thing is that politicians can make false claims about helping the poor when their policies actually hurt the poor because they know that the poor dont vote and the middle class which is actually feeling the sting will vote for them because they will feel good about helping the poor.

Well I learned in College that it is a real statistic that low income people do not vote. My instructor said that this is because they are uneducated. I'm assuming that they say this because if they were educated then they would have better jobs and not be considered low income. I don't necessarily know if I believe that. I hope that did not come out wrong, I'm just stating what I had learned.

I suspect they feel powerless. Some people in poverty are only there temporarily. These people are more likely to vote. Others are chronically poor and find it to be an acceptable way to live so they are unlikely to ever vote.

Poor people do vote. They may not vote in numbers or percents that are acceptable to you. Like rich people, they have the right to vote or not vote.

What was the source of the information? It's easy to throw out statistics and misinterpret or misstate what they mean.
