Is this a new condition? Or were you born with the lifeless limp hair that some of us are. If its naturally limp, the length can weigh it down somewhat but a good shamp and cond. and the styling of it can help. If this is a new condition, get a good deep cleaning shampoo and speak with a hair stylist.

Sometimes a deep cleaning shampoo and/or a thickening conditioner helps.

I've had good luck with Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner (I know, it's supposed to be for horses and dogs, but it works on people too).

A body perm could help. The chemicals in the perm solution make the hair shaft more porous, so your hair puffs out more.

As a last resort, bleaching your hair makes the hair-shaft more porous which makes it appear thicker.

Also, if your hair is long, the weight of the hair will make it appear limp.

Sounds like you have shampoo and product build up. The things you could use are a clarifying shampoo like Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two or Shampoo Three. You can also use Tressemme clarifying shampoo. Followup with a lightweight conditioner, like Tressemme Silk Protein formula. If you don't like to use chemical products, you can always use good old fashioned vinegar and cool water after you shampoo. Not only will it get rid of buildup, it will make your hair really shiny.
