My boyfriend's apartment has stains on a few walls from people leaning with dirty hands. Also, I believe smoking has contributed to the stains along with him being a grease loving chef *smiles*. Either way, there are blackish/brownish stains randomly on the walls. Anyone know of a great remedy other than not touching the walls? Being that is a rented apartment, I thought he should start now with the wall upkeep!

Well repainting is always an option, but I'm trying to avoid painting. Too many walls, and must find the correct color of white.

try that MR CLEAN sponge. I used it on marks where the cats & dogs go thru the door or when the dogs leaned against the wall... it works really well.. Better than using 409 & sponge.... if it doesn't get the grease ...try 409 or KABOOM... & wet sponge & either one should get that off.

There's this old fashioned stuff in an orange box. X-Tra Touch Kitchen Powder. Works great! I've used it to remove crayon and dye stains off the walls

I don't know if this will help you. But just last weekend, I washed the side of the house down where dogs coated in red mud had been laying against it. Where the mud was especially stubborn, I had to use Soft Scrub.

sand the area and touch it up with some matching white paint, probably the quickest way.
