try going to babiesrus.com or target.com and look her up to see if she's registered. that way, you can buy her exactly what she wants. either that, or get her diapers/wipes/or clothes for a bigger baby. everyone needs that!

You should check and see if she has a baby registry any where - that way you can give her something that she needs/wants. Diapers are always appreciated - as your friend will go through a ton. Maybe a diaper cake - they are super cute! Clothes are really nice gift as well - get bigger sizes as everyone typically pick es up newborn or 0-3 month. If you want a gift that is a little unusual but still very thoughtful get the baby a savings bond for there future. My mother in law did this for my son - its so nice to know that he has money set aside for his future education. Hope there is something here that will help.

Diapers are always a good gift. They get expensive and they will definatly be needed. My mom when she had my little sister had a whole shower where they brought nothing but diapers and wipes. Other things you can give hand made little items like baby quilts or embrodred outfits bibs and burp cloths. Engraved silver thing like rattles, pacifier clips, or sippy cups. These items tend to have more sentimental value over the years.

My cousin is having a baby shower, she's having a little boy and I bought her one romper, two onesies, a little pair of pants with booties, a bib set, and another outfit. I also got her a pack of diapers (which if she doesn't like the brand of diapers she can always return them to the store and switch them out most companies don't care if she's says it was from a baby shower) a tub of pampers sensitive wipes and a johnsons kit with diaper rash cream, qtips for babies, baby shampoo, well you get the idea so if you get her something along this line she should be fine, but it depends on how much your willing to spend and what she is having.

Check her registry. If she doesn't have one or you don't know what to pick off of it, just get a gift card to her favorite place to shop for baby items. Wal-Mart, Target, Baby Depot.... those are good starting points. What I do for EVERYONE'S baby shower is make a goodie basket. I buy an inexpensive wicker laundry basket and fill it full of baby necessities. Diapers, wipies, pacifiers, burp clothes, a cute picture frame, lotions and baby wash.... I've never had any complaints with that one. In fact, they are usually a big hit! I hope this helps. Congratulations to your friend and have fun shopping.

I would stick to giving her fairly inexpensive items that will come in handy such as diapers, bibs, lightweight blankets, little undershirts and outfits, baby shampoo, diaper rash ointment, etc. Usually the parents or other close family members purchase the bigger, more expensive gifts. Since you are just co-workers, I think simple things just to welcome the baby and say congrats are appropriate. Of course, you could always pitch in with your co-workers (10 dollars a piece or something) and buy a big gift together. It's really up to you!

If you want real advice....
Get a gift card for the store the mother-to-be is registered at. Or a Target or Visa gift card. I know it's not "personal" or "special"...but TRUST ME...she will be so thankful!! I wish more people would have done that for me.
EDIT: If you get her diapers make sure to include the original receipt or a gift receipt with them. If she chooses to use a different brand she'll need a receipt to exchange them.
Good luck!

At my shower at work most people gave me blankets, clothes, bibs, & little things like the baby shampoos & lotions. It's probably best to stay away from Diapers & bottles b/c you never know what kind the mother will want to use. I liked most the gift bags that had many different little things in it (some coat hangers, a pacifier, shampoo, baby socks, a pack of bibs, etc.)
Hope this helps.

A thoughtful gift doesnt have to be expensive, when i was expecting, a friend gave me a cute baby clothes basket in the shape of a ladybug, from ikea, and a cute t-shirt that said "i love hugs", simple, cheap, useful, needed and i loved it. She also gave me a small gift basket of aromatherapy bath products, so i could relax in the bath. I appreciated her gift so much!!
When your pg, everyone gives jumpsuits, toys, bibs etc etc, so think of something that will be needed and useful but isnt really something they would buy really.
