Yikes, that's a long drive.

The easiest probably would be to drive down the coast to Seattle, and hop on Interstate 90 there. There are no turns the rest of the way. Interstate 80 & 90 join for a while in Ohio; you should stay on Interstate 80 straight into New York City (I-90 goes up toward Buffalo and over to Boston).

This is the way Mapquest essentially sends you.

You are looking at apporximately 4000km or 2485 miles, a rather long drive so you're probably looking at 3 - 4 days travel depending on how long you drive each day.
Sorry can't help you with a route, my maps weren't specific enough. You could go from Vancouver to Seatle and then across the states or you can cross the border further east.
I personally would cross the border further east, but only because it freaks me out when I think of the crime rate in the states as opposed to Canada's, call me paranoid, but that is just how I feel.
Enjoy you trip.
