I don't have the owners manual, and this seems like a simple question :)

It does seem like a simple question, but it really isn't. There's probably about 12 different 98 Ranger trim levels & bodystyle configurations and each of them have different wheel & tire options.That is why When you look up PSI in your owners manual , it states:

"See Safety Compliance
Certification Label on inside of
driver door."

Don't look at the tires. That number on your tire is the max psi it will hold. For the right psi for your vehicle look on the sticker on your driver side door. there should be a front psi and a rear psi. This is the recomended psi from the manufacturer.

Look at the side-wall of the tire or on the sticker on the door jamb and if you can,t find that then 35 psi. should be a good number to go by.

My 2000 ranger (with 16 inch tires) calls for 32 front and 35 rear.

If Im not mistaken the recommended psi is 30lbs cold. but as everyone has stated, check the sticker in the door jamb.

bet its 43 but to be sure look on the side wall of the tire there will be a max/min hot/cold psi requirement stamped in it
