I had a cingular pay as you go phone and canceled a while back. Can i reactivate this phone with the same sim card in it or do I have to buy a new sim card?

I recently phoned Cingular with the identical question. (It's really a pain to have to get a new SIM card twice a year when I go to the US to visit family.) By cancelled, I assume you mean that you let it expire without refilling.

Cingular says if it's within 60 days of the expiration, there's a chance you could reactivate it. You'd have to try recharging it (can be done online or by phone) to check.

If it's longer than 60 days, chances are you'd need a new SIM. Check with them how much they'd charge. If it's more than you're willing to pay, there's always ebay.

Wish you luck!

Cingular (as most carriers) does Not reactivate used sim cards. Once deactivated, they are essentially toast. However, if you loose your phone, and the card is deactivated you can still fetch the contacts off the old card if you later find the phone...

Good Luck!
