Do you every call a guy Abo and his own name as a nick name like Abo Assem if his name is Assem? Or is this only used in terms of saying father of someone... Also is Reem another way to say Rami? One more question is Abo only used to say father of a son or also a daughter?
Thanks:)

Yes, it's like a nickname or an alias.

Most usually they will call him Abo Assem (if his eldest son is called Assem). This "Abo" thing works based on the eldest son most usually.

If the guy doesn't have sons and only daughters it is less usual to alias him for example Abo Maryam (if his eldest daughter is Maryam).

Reem is a girl name. Rami is a guy's name (I know that for sure because my name is Rami lol). I wouldn't be very happy if you alias me "Reem" lol.

As for your last question, Abo Sami = Sami's father. Abo Layal = Layal's father, so yes it works for both sons and daughters.

Hope this helps,
Signed,
Abo Smut (my eldest is named Smut after myself - joking)

EDIT: Yes, in that context it can be used. I think it is also usual to say "habibi ya abou al Roum" lol. That's Lebanese slang you're talking now, and it can be used to address someone called Rami. In this context, it doesn't mean that he has a son called Reem (or Roum).

Abou Assem means the father of Assem ( abou means dad or father)

No, Reem is a girl's name and Rami is a boy's name

I call my friend Abo, because he looks like the monkey from the cartoon Aladdin, and I have a cousin named Rima.

Its common in the arab world to call an elder or someone in an affectionate manner, Abu. Its rather used for males only.
