well, Europeans are fascinated about America just like the Americans are fascinated about Europe.
unfortunately, i cant say the same thing about the populations of the two continents. Europeans think that Americans are stupid and eat a lot of junk food.
Of course these are prejudices and it is not a rule for all Europeans to think that way... i think it really depends from one european country to another; Eastern Europeans might LOVE the Americans, while Western Europeans might hate them.

It kind of depends on the country, the region, and of course how well the typical American tourist behaves. In Paris we are tolerated, and in Poland we are treated like old friends. It runs the entire gamut in between.

There is some strong anti-American feeling now due to the war in Iraq. Stay away from crowds and obvious anti-U.S. demonstrations.

No. It has been that way since the 60's. Sorry but if you travel to Europe or other countries in the world if you say you are American you will find that sometimes even bellboys will walk away and not service them.

That all depends on how they behave. If you respect their culture, are polite, learn to speak some of their language -- greetings, please and thank you, you ill probably be treated well. If you are a badly dressed rude loud mouth, probably not.
