You were not very specific. A slap on the hands or the bottom is okay. A slap in the face is total lack of respect for an individual and in my opinion can do harm. One of the few things I did right in my life was disciplining my son. I never raised a hand to him and he listened to me when I counseled him. He turned out just fine. I always thought the key to raising a child is communication and it goes both ways.

I think and believe that parents DO HAVE the right to slap their kid/s if the kid/s get outta line. BUT A SLAP, NOTHING MORE. And I also think that the DICTATORS will stop you from doing this becuase in their P-BRAINS they will say this is abuse. As was said in the past, "Spare the rod, spoil the child"

Yes, they have the right to slap their children, as long as the kids know WHY they slapped them and WHAT they did wrong. It’s acceptable as long as the parents don’t take it too far and it becomes abuse. A little spanking is fine but it is wrong to overdo it.

YEA...some kids need it..i mean i do believe its acceptable to a certain extent of course because some parents take it way to far and so it becomes child abuse..but a small spanking on the behind here and there is acceptable as long as the child understands why its happening.

I dont think they should. When you slap a child it will come across to that child that it is ok to hit another person when you disagree or are trying to discipline someone. Eye to eye contact when talking and loss of privileges of something important works better than slapping to make your point. Keeping your cool shows that you are in control of the situation and using violence usually only breeds more violence, either in the present situation or in the future when the child grows up and does what his parent did. I wouldn't ever want to be known as a slapper to people in my childs life but as a kind but also firm disciplinarian that was fair and never needed to raise a hand in anger to get my point across.

Slap?
I don't think that qualifies as punishment to me. That sounds like abuse. A slap out of anger is abuse. There is a difference.
But a spanking for the little ones is a must when appropriate.
