No, it's not true. Doctors are human like the rest of us and make mistakes. People give doctors far too much power in their lives and don't always take the time to question them or ask for second opinions. I trust my doctor because she's been steady throughout the years, taken the time to listen and acknowledge that I know my body better than anyone else, and provided good advice and treatment. I also know someone who is in the process of suing this same doctor. Doesn't change my mind about how she treats me. But I do know that she is not infallible.

It isn't a statement, it's a question. :p
Well... personally I have a terrible doctor. He diagnosed me with asthma at age 4 and still thinks I have it, although I have never had an asthma attack and I have never used an inhaler. I could trail into the surgery with a broken arm and he'd still insist that I had asthma.
So I don't trust my doctor. I can trust my family and my closest friends and my dog with my life. Thus I don't think the statement is true.

I don't know to be honest, it depends what your trusting them with!
If your trusting them with your physical health then the doctor is the one to go to. If you have a secret thats buggin you or a mental health issue a counsellor would be the most trustworthy person probably as doctors don't deal with it as well sometimes and instead of listening sometimes just want to perscribe medication. However you could also see a psychiatrist who is technically a doctor.
You should always be able to trust people whos main ethic in their job is confidentiality such as doctors, counsellors, therapists and even clergy....however, sometimes we feel they break our trust when they do so but in our best interests.
There is always the odd bad doctor out there..look at harold shipman or the doctors currently thought to be terrorists. There is bad counsellors who have abused their patients vulnerabilty etc but all in all we should be able to trust them...doctors and mental health professionals especially!

I'm sorry, Mike, there is one retired doctor and now MP I would trust - the guy who is? was? the only Independent in the House of Commons - Richard Taylor.
I have friends who are doctors, and I would trust them, too, accepting that they are human and like all of us, capable of making mistakes.
I remember someone saying to me once that the only doctor who is right all the time is the one who performs the post-mortem.

That goes to the bigger picture of if you can't trust someone with your life in their hands who can you trust. I believe its fault reasoning, as their are certainly doctors that aren't worthy of trust, much like the recent scandals involving clergy molesting their charges have shown.
Trust is something earned, not merely given because of a title of station in life. I trust few politicians, as I think they all cater to special interests one way of another, because if they had any honor, they wouldn't have gone in politics. Harsh? Perhaps, but the last decade seems to make my argument all the more convincing...Sad as that may be.

Do you mean trust or point of no choice?
With doctors we have no choice and have to just use our intuition and knowledge combined to see where and what is best. Personally trusting anyone is a looney concept but the point is here there is no choice!

I have a psychiatrist and i feel like the less she knows about my personal life, the better. I just go to her to give me my meds, i don't need her telling me how to live my life. You really can't trust anyone.

no. you should only trust yourself and your instincts. numerous times I've been told by my doctor my concern wasn't a big problem when it really was, or I was misdiagnosed. I've learned to listen to my body and its the bets thing I've ever done for myself.
