Since they are at 2 very different points in their career I think you would have to compare what Barry did in the first half of his career to A-Rod's stats up until now. I would give A-rod the slight edge. If you are taking into consideration other factors, (Steroids, etc....) or are asking to compare them right now, I would say A-Rod, no question. Also, at this point Barry is a defensive liability, while A-Rod is back to gold glove form.

a-rod...he's on track to break the record in 6 and a half years, which is 3 and a half years before barry. plus a-rod is a yankee...and the most clutch hitter alive today.

Im going to say A-Rod because as long as he can stay healthy, he will probably break Barry Bonds HR record.

By all means A Rod younger and more balanced as a player.
Shortstop all star. Third base all star.
Just a little post season issue, but he is tremendous and needs to stay healthy.

Alex Rodriguez - Very powerful, great base stealer, hits good base hits, CLUTCH! (maybe not last season), outstanding fielder, also is very young so he has so much more left in his career.
Sports Illustrated and ESPN magazines both have a-rod projected at the top of the HR charts at the end of his year.
At his rate, he is supposed to crush bonds' new record and get easily over 800 home runs.
We also don't know if all of barrys hr's were truely HIM hitting them or "other things"

A-Rod, He is very talented, and never have I seen him rip his coaches or the media. The only problem I have with him is his contract. If he would just give back some of that huge money he gets. That would save the club some money so they can get some pitching he could get to the World Series.
