Probably no more than 250. You can get most phones for way less if you know where to look. If you want a smartphone for web and email you dont need a big fancy one there are lots of phones that do things just as well as the fancy ones. Of course if you want a fancy one and have the money go for it. Don't waste money on an iphone though. Too pricey and too many bugs even if you got a million dollars to blow. The palm treo that runs windows is nice (700wx i think).

It depends. Contracts are 2 years now, which I think is way too long to keep a phone with all the new technology coming out. But since we do have to keep them for 2 years, I don' t mind spening a little bit. But definately no more than $200. And that much is pushing it.

You could apply this question to cars, haircuts, toothpaste,etc...
Everyone has their own budget, technical, bells and whistles wants and desires.
I would spend $800 if the phone met my needs. It is such an integral part of our lives these days.
