a friend of mine is going to malaysia in a week and I need her to buy me one.. except that I don't know which to choose?!
I'm a Windows user, will need a 17 high resolution screen, hard 80, hard working speakers, multi drive 'read-write'

If you don't live in Malaysia, DON'T do it!!!
Power and warranty issues just aren't worth it. Buy the best brand name laptop you can afford LOCALLY.

first of all dont get a 17 inch screen, your battery life sucks
make sure it's an hp laptop. they are the best.
I recommend something like the dv4000
15.4 inch screen
100 GB Hdar drive
1-2 GB ram
great speakers
CD and DVD Reader and Burner

You should get a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I have one, and I love it. I would highly recommend it.
