You probably need to go to counseling anyway because there is a part of you that is completely detached at 12 years old a divorce between your parents has to effect you. I don't know your whole situation and what went on in your household before they split up. But when a family is sick its the whole family not only the ones who openly express their hurt, regret, anger. You mother or father should have insisted you be a part of any healing process taking place.

Ask them why you didn't have to go to counselling.

Counselling is sometimes very deep and isnt the answer for many people - it doens't suit everyone.

When I separated from my husband, I discussed it fully with my son and he agreed that separating was a good thing. Yes, he had inital problems with it as his dad tried to turn him against me but overall, it has worked out. You may be the same as him in thinking it's the best solution. It's easier to live in a calm home than one where 2 parents are constantly bickering with each other.

But ask you parents why you weren't included and if you don't feel messed up by it, then that's great. Good luck!

your parents may believe that you are too young to go to a councelor because they dont want you to deal with family problems as a child.they also may believe that you will be fine without a coucelor.but with my parents divorce and knowing about all my friends divorces, they have all gone to a councelor including me.but you may be really mature for your age and you may not need one.

Though u are still young but u say to yourself this is life. But try to see their mistakes to avoid them when u get married in the future as kids are the victims of such things

You were too young to understand, what was really going on.
