I'm about to buy a computer for law school and I was wondering if the specs I have picked out will be suitable. I am mostly gonna use it for word processing but will also have some music on it. Not much into gaming so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm mostly concerned about overheating problem cause my Dell sucked. I was looking at a HP dv2000t with these specs.......
-Operating System Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit)
-Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2350 (1.86 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
-Display 14.1" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
-Memory 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
-Graphics Card 128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200
-Networking Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
-Hard Drive 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Open to any other suggestions....Looking to spend between $1500-$1800

Thanks in advance.....

This was a very good choice

The hp pavillion dv2000t is an excellent laptop, you will not find a better one for the money.

This will get you through law school and much more. You have enough power in that laptop to do anything

It seems to be overkill to me. Any laptop under $1000 should do what you need. BTW, heat is produced by the CPU, so ask before you buy.

Does your budget include M$-Office ($400) and a printer / scanner?

Try the free, and M$-Office compatible, Open Office from:
http://www.openoffice.org

Included: Writer (like Word), Calc (Excel), Impress (PowerPoint), Base (Access), Draw (M$-Paint) and Math

Just make sure that if you want others to be able to view the documents using M$-Office Word, save them using "Save as..." in .doc format, instead of the default .odt format. Or use the built-in PDF creation feature.

There, now you can afford to subscribe to the Legal communities Databases.
