You're asking if it's a psychological AND emotional sign of addiction?
I fail to see a question here. You kinda answered it yourself. Addiction is BOTH a sign of emotional and psychological dependency. Some drugs like heroin have physical side effects from withdrawl which can have nothing to do with either emotions or psychology...but I think withdrawls from opiates are the only example of this.
I should know, I'm a doctor of medicineology.

NO NO NO NO. Most drugs, it is a very physical addiction. Heroin for example: "However, heroin is highly physically addictive, more so than morphine, and on a par with nicotine. Regularity of use is as important as the amount in the development of addiction.
To compound things, the body quickly builds a tolerance to the drug. Long term, larger and larger doses are needed to achieve the same effect."

False, its neither psychological or emotional. both imply that its all in your head, your body stores the chemicals you are taking, and grows a dependency for that chemical. When you quit taking the drugs, your body goes into shock because of its dependency. Your muscles ache, you have cold sweats, uncontrollable vomiting, and psychological dependency. therefore the majority of the symptoms of withdrawal are physical.

Being unable to cope with the physical effects of withdrawal could be psychological I suppose.

Physical withdrawal is not psychological. It is the body's drastic reaction to the absence of the toxins it has become accustomed to. Once the body gets through the physical withdrawl, the emotional or psychological battle begins.

Um, no...the answer's in the question. It's physical.
There may be emotional & psychological components--those can be tougher to get over than the physical aspect!!
But the fact remains, physical withdrawal is very real.
