Yes, someone 'struck a nerve' and Republicans don't want to hear it. That's why they tried to kill the Live Earth event from staging in Washington, DC. They don't want to stop building smoke-belching factories; they can't stand the idea of not driving their gas-guzzling SUVs; and they are too bull-headed to admit that they might be wrong about the seriousness of this global warming issue.
Check out the June, 2007 issue of "National Geographic" magazine. Read page 61. This highly respected publication obviously doesn't believe global warming is some kind of "hoax" or "fraud". It's real....
I would encourage any proponents to use this article as an argument in favor of protecting and preserving the delicate balance between all men, plants and animals. I would encourage all those 'naysayers', skeptics and unbelievers to read this article for their own information, education and enlightenment. But, as can be expected, those who huff and puff the loudest will refuse to try and educate themselves as to the facts. They would rather stick their heads in the sand, make fun of Al Gore, and discredit the preponderance of the scientific community which claims global warming is a serious threat to our society and our world - and it could dramatically alter the way we live in less than 50 years.
If you are one of those who firmly believes global warming is NOT a serious threat to our planet, I DARE YOU to read this National Geographic article! -RKO- 07/08/07

Becuse conservatives are only interested in spending money on things that don't improve the lives of ordinary people, like wars. Anything that makes the wealthy weathier at the expense of ordinary people is presented as a necessary sacrifice for some abstract notion like "freedom" or "the global war on terrorism". But suggesting that we collectively reprioritize so that life becomes better for ordinary people (e.g. universal health care, diplomacy instead of war, preventing pollution) is dismisssed as "liberal".
So spending x dollars on a bomb is seen as a good use of funds but spending those same dollars on a windmill that generates electricity is bad. Spending x dollars on a Humvee that will be scrap metal a year from now is good, but spending x dollars on photovoltaic panels that will generate electricity for decades to come is not.
Orwell's point that it's not sufficient to have power, it's necessary to make sure those who do not have power are suffering seems to be evident on a daily basis during the Bush administration.

They look to their leaders on how to act and think with their pod brains.
Their leaders are in the pockets of BIG business. They see that combating climate change will cost money up front, even though it will generate vast profits in the long run.
generating biofuels will be a big business, and because of president pea brain we will be behind every other developed nation.
Therefore, as usual, they fight for something that can hurt them, and combat that which will help.
Only the top 2% of the nation will be financially effected, and look to gain substantially. but it is a liberal idea so they will combat it, just like health care reform.

Those shows are only to show the leaders how sheeps we are really... This environmental scared is only there to scare and control peoples in order to get them accepted something coming down that they will not approved if not conditioned prior to it...
This is just psychology of the mass, to control mass better.
Peoples still think that this world is full of beautiful flowers... While the beast are looking to eat you from the shadows.

Damn straight, Algore's hypocricy hit a nerve! Most of the pollution is animal-generated flatulence and what the hell are we to do about this? Do dems demand we all become vegans? But it's sure allright for all those SUV"s to drive to all those concerts, set up their bbq's and blow a ton more co2 into the air. If you see sense in all that, that's your problem but don't make it mine!

Yes Neenie, someone did strike a nerve. I really don't get it.
The concerts were great.
I think the repubs are jealous because they don't have someone like Al Gore in their party who is honered and respected.

Oh please, strike a nerve?!? You have got to be kidding. We simply let you know how ridiculous it was up front, yet the gas bag Al Gore moved forward with it anyway. It's like us telling you not to step off the cliff because it is a long way down, and liberals - being liberals, taking the step anyway. I find the whole thing amusing.

Simple.
Republicans HATE fun. They don't want the population of the USA to be HAPPY. They want you to be afraid and cowering in your homes with rolls of plasctic wrap and duct tape so you'll let them do whatever they want.
Secondly, Republicans are Pro-BIG business...who rape the planet constantly in search of profits.
Lastly, Live Earth concerts are a slap in the face to the vast minority of pea brains who disagree with the rest of the planet regarding "Global Warming"

Why are you guys asking this same question over and over? That's what upsets me.
Nobody's upset at the concert, some people just realize that it was an overall dumb thing to do.
