If a capacitor was bad, it would blow the breaker the instant you turned it on.

More than likely you're using an extension cord. huh?
DON'T!!

There is too much resistance in the extension cord and it's causing the compressor to draw too many amps because you can't supply enough voltage to the compressor.

Less volts, means more amps.
More amps means more heat.
More heat means breakers will trip.

ADDED:
Look on the data plate on the compressor motor.
It should say how many amps it draws.
something like
(9.5/15.9)
The first number is how many amps it draws at 220 volts.
The second number is how many amps it draws at 110 volts.
A standrard house breaker is 15 amp.
Make sure there is nothing else on the same breaker also drawing power.

ADDED:#2
Is it wired for 230 volt and you're plugging it in to 115???

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I have the same motor with the same problem. It's OEM part, so Sears is the only place it can be replaced. ($500 plus/minus) I've been to WW Granger and all over. The motor turns freely. No extension cords. I looked into having it re-wired and it costs the same to replace it. The piston moves freely. I have no idea.
