Under English law, anybody can call themselves anything they like. You cant control what your ex wife or anybody else decides to call themselves.

I'm not an attorney, but it's legal. Try to see it from her point of view, if you were married for a long time, she has a credit history and tons of legal documents with her married name. It's a real hassle to change all that and especially now (after the divorce) there would be an additional cost involved to have a her name changed through the courts now.
Perhaps she is doing it to irritate you. But a word to the wise, if you don't let it bother you, it won't. Good Luck.

Is your name still legally her last name? It doesn't AUTOMATICALLY change if you get married/divorced, there's paperwork to file.
If it is not her LEGAL last name, send her a cease and desist letter (keep a copy for your files), informing her that she is committing a form of fraud by using your name.
Good luck.

It has been suggested by several contributors that the use of "Aliases" in formal documents is legal. It is not (at least it is not here in Florida). You may only use your own legal name, or a Non-Misleading business name (EG, you cannot incorporate simply as Joe Smith and use that as your name) on legal documents. See the following FL Statute for reference: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/...

Yes, this is legal. She probably doesn't want the hassle of changing everything to a new name. It is what she is commonly known by, many people have different names [these are known as aliases] and it is perfectly legal.
There is a great link below to the legalities of names etc in the United Kingdom and about different options when people get married etc.

Sure, it's legal. She can use any name she wants, maiden name, your name or something made up. As long as she is not trying to commit fraud, it's legal.
I can say from experience that if your married name is on everything = and has been for years, it is very difficult to change the name and can be expensive.
Don't worry....you won't be held responsible for anything. A name is just a name.

She does not have to take her new husbands name. She can keep the name she has been using since you divorced. If she did not change it legally at the time she is still able to use your last name.

i would think its ok, IF shes not commiting fraud as someone said before.. e.g. getting out morgages / loans in JOINT names..
its odd though, fishy.. why wouldn't she use her NEW surname, the husband must be annoyed even on that front.

it's not your name, it's her name, she can do whatever she likes with it.
