Did he look like himself? If you're not a sensitive (aka a psychic medium), and not able to see or speak to the dead otherwiss, then very often the spirits will contact us through our dreams, as that's when we're most receptive to their energies. When my gifts I first started to develop, when I couldn't tell anything from anything, spirits would often come to me in dreams. If he looked like he did in life, that was really him. If he had a different face/body but you just knew it was him, then it was just a representation of him.

Frog:

To see a frog in your dream, represents a potential to change or to do the unexpected. The frog may be a prince in disguise. Alternatively, the frog may suggest uncleanness.

To see frogs leaping in your dream, may indicate your lack of commitment. You have the tendency to jump from one thing to another. Alternatively, it may suggest that you are taking major steps toward some goal.

To dream that you are catching a frog, signifies your carelessness concerning your health.

To hear the sounds of a frog in your dream, signifies that you visit with friends will not accomplish anything that you wanted it to.

Father (if he didn't look like himself):

To see your father in your dream, symbolizes authority and protection. It suggests that you need to be more self-reliant. Consider also your waking relationship with your father.

To dream that your father is dead, forewarns that you need to proceed with caution in conducting your business.

I have two ideas.

1) As amphibians, frogs exist on land and in water. When someone close dies, you will go through a transition time where you are balancing memories of your father's life with the reckoning of his death. So you will be transitioning back and forth between ideas and thoughts of life and death, which was symbolized by the frogs, animals who move between the land and water. Eventually, as you grow used to his passing, your dream symbol might transform into something more stable, like an animal that is totally terrestrial, or perhaps a tree, which is "rooted" in place.

2) You "misheard" the dream and saw frogs, but the dream intention was "fog". The dream was about the "fog" of death, about transitioning into an unknown realm.

Frogs may seem like little creatures, but in culture and mythology they have a huge impact on us. They are a sign of change, of a new chance of life.
Frogs also represent the alter ego - the darker side that we all possess. eg The egotistical prince is turned into a frog and forced to be humble while waiting for a kind soul to return him to being human.
Folk wisdom tells that dreaming of a frog means good fortune, happiness and great friendships.
To see a frog in your dream represents a potential to change or to do the unexpected. The frog may be a prince in disguise.
To see frogs in low marshy places, foretells trouble, but you will overcome it by the kindness of others. To see frogs in the grass, denotes that you will have a pleasant and even-tempered friend as your confidant and counselor.
If you're dreaming about frogs - do you feel a change coming up in your life? How will you deal with that change? Do you feel that someone in your life (maybe you) is feeling unappreciated - that people see your faults instead of your strengths? Find a way to get those strengths noticed!

Since you didn't give very much detail about your dream, its hard to say what it means specifically in your case. Many people have already given really good answers.

I wanted to add that frogs are also a symbol of fertility and abundance.

You have to figure out what interpretation makes the most sense to you and where you are in your life.

You didn't mention what your father was doing in your dream or if he said anything. Usually when we dream of parents who have passed on, it is about unresolved issues with them. The frogs represent change as they are associated with water. Water represents the subconscious. It may be that there are certain characteristics your father instilled in you that need to change. You have your own life to live with your own characteristics that need to surface and can't because they're filled with your fathers. Many frogs indicate your traits or characteristics that are wanting to surface. This one is a little difficult to interpret with what info you've given. I'm truly sorry about your father. My own father is in the last stages of stomach cancer. Being yourself is not dishonoring your father, rather it is fulfilling your fathers desires for you in your life.Whether he would approve or not. Good luck and always listen to your dreams.

So sorry for your lose. More innocently, your father came for a visit and used the frogs as a symbol that you would remember.

transformation....or to be more specific...."the stages one must go through while pursing/accomplishing transition known as transformation."
this dream seems to be about your fathers transformative journey from this life into the next
it's really a lovely dream
it would be wonderful if you could remember more of it
and of course, as well as the journey, it symbolizes the need for your father to let you know that "he made it."
It was a visitation of sorts
A message from a newly dear departed loved one
A frog also symbolizes the "end" of transformation....
Your dad came to tell you that he completed the journey, he made it to the other side, and to say good bye with love.

I'm very sorry that you have lost you father but I don't think that dreams mean anything. I just think it's the brain defragging.
