I think everything is connected in some way. Even random events are connected. There is scientific proof that there is a pattern to chaos (randomness).

Everything happens for a reason...by definition. A car accident happens because of a series of events, thus, there is a "reason" it happens. However, if you're speaking about a "philosophical" reason, then you're asking an unanswerable question, or a question that is only answerable by God, the god-head, the supreme being, etc. (if one exists).
If you're asking for personal opinions, then I'd have to say, "yes, everything does happen for a reason." Can I prove it? No, but during my 50 years of life in this current incarnation, I have come to believe that there is an underlying purpose for everything that happens, that unrelated events only appear that way. Do I believe a butterfly that beats its wings in Central Park causes a tornado in Texas? No, but I do believe that things that have no apparent reason behind them do in fact serve a purpose not always "reasonable" to those who may have suffered due to the event. What appears random to a single viewer may have a pattern and purpose unknown, but important to a bigger event. I once crashed a car when I was 13. It cost my family money to repair, my mother wouldn't ride with me driving until after I got married, and it wasn't until years later I found out that an alcoholic janitor witnessed the event, was unsure if it was real or a halucination, and stopped drinking. How do I know this? Because his daughter thanked me for having the accident and provided me with details I had been completely unaware of at the time. I knew the janitor, but didn't know it was her father, nor that he was an alcoholic, or that her parents were about to be divorced...nor that my accident changed his life, saved their marriage, and set their life on a different course. So, yes, I believe there are reasons for everything that happens, both good and bad.

A little of both. Things generally happen as a result of choices we make. Sometimes random events happen that we have no control over. Then there are those few times when events seem to be scripted by a Higher Hand. The key is to move forward in life, make good decisions, work hard, and be thankful and content.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. We may not know the reason at the time, but there is a reason for it. We may not like what's happening but ultimately when we see the bigger picture, things will make more sense. Sometimes we wish we could change things, to suit our needs and when things don't go our way, we ask questions like "how do you really know when it's over?", while always knowing the answer deep down inside. We just need confirmation from another to accept what's happening.

I personally think everything happens for a reason, and I think every decision you make is for a reason, whether you know that reason or not. Plus believing everything happens for a reason give you hope that something better is about to come. So even if it doesn't, why not give yourself hope?

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. And where you are in life right now, is exactly where you are supposed to be at this time.

It varies depending on any number of factors. Even as proactive as I am in forging my life path, there's still the occasional "Cosmic Curveball." In hindsight they've rarely ever been completely without purpose.
