Laptops are not gaming machines. Although the technology is getting better, 99% of the laptops out there have on board memory. Basically this means your video ram is pulled from the total ram in the machine. Unlike a desktop which most have dedicated video cards that have their own, much faster ram. Before installing ANY game on your laptop, make sure it meets at least the minimum requirements of the game. If it doesn't, it will not play, plain and simple. I work in a computer store, and I will tell you, we have very few laptops that have more then 128 meg video capabilities. Most of the newer games want at least 256 megs of video. Therefore, they will not play. Check the stats on the machine you are buying, and match them up with Battlefield. That would be the best advice I could give.

The Inspiron 1501 has Radeon Express 1150 integrated graphics. It is slow for most current games as it could only manage 720 marks in 3D Mark 05. You will never enjoy BF2142 (as well as new games) with it.
