The modern legal system which is not only India but most of the countries follow was introduced by British only. The best thing about these criminal as well civil law is that although most of these are century old but still they are complete & evergreen with definitely some exceptions where amendments were made & still some need amendments which when ever recommended by the Supreme Court of India , High Courts & the National law commission are done by the legislature. I don't understand how you say these were framed only to benefit the British rule as there exist most of legal provisions which concern ordinary citizens of India in there day to day life, nothing to do with even government of India. As far the Indian Penal Code is concerned it is the complete code regarding crime/offences & its punishment relating to almost every such crime/offence one can think. Just take a copy of the Code & read it you'll really enjoy reading it & gain lots of knowledge about the criminal law of the country. Although just as I end my comments about the Indian legal system specially the criminal law let me for the information of all bring to you knowledge one provision of the Indian Penal Code that is section 428 which states Mischief by killing or maiming animal of the value of ten
rupees.-Whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or
rendering useless any animals or animal of the value of the ten rupees
or upwards, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description
for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both. What it states cover you if by chance you try out any of these acts stated here against even a stray dog which definitely will at least be of Rs10/- value you can face imprisonment upto 2 years & fine. Don’t you feel the value amount of the animal that was fixed in 1860 as Rs10/- needs amendment now ?

Do u have ne idea of Indian Law?? Have u studied it? I know I have.
Of course some aspects need 2 be upgraded but most drastic changed are required in the attitudes of the Judges and the corrupt practices of advocates.
Give me one example where present Indian law benefits the British Rule. The reason Indian law was devised was to form a National Justice authority, u shud remember that there were numerous states with their own laws and courts. Actually it helped us immensely after independence as it gave us a unified code and admin to implement that.
If something hasn't changed anything in the last 100 years that doesn't mean that it's bad or irrelevant. Most of Bharatiya traditions and practices of most of the religions haven't changed in the last 1000s of years does that mean that they are bad??

There is nothing wrong with most of the existing acts which have been amended from time to time. It is the delay in the justice system that causes frustration. However CrPC needs to be amended so as to permit the Victim of Crime the same rights as the Accused. The Accused u/s.303 can hire the best lawyer to defend him whereas the Victim is statutorily lumbered with the Public Prosecutor - incompetent, indifferent, corrupted by the Accused or all 3 !! No wonder conviction rates are abysmally low.

Yes, it is the time to reform laws in India as there are lot of crimes happening in India and to stop them we have to change the laws. Change of laws will make India a safe place to live without crimes, as the politicians and leaders are the main back support for criminals.

as long as replacement laws don't just benefit ANOTHER preferred class, such as males or certain castes
justice should be blind to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, income and otherwise follow the dictates of common sense and decency
