Both are great - but I think I prefer cold case. The way they go back in time with the characters is really interesting.

I love Without a Trace! Cold Case is a good show as well...only seen it a couple times though. I never miss an episode of Without of Trace...it's always exciting to watch and the storylines are always interesting! :)

I like how both of the shows treat the victim as a real person. Either through other people talking about them or flashbacks, we really come to know and care about them. This results in me really caring whether the missing person is found in Without a Trace and often in me crying at the end of Cold Case.

If you had asked this a couple of years ago in the first couple of seasons of Without a Trace, I would have said Without a Trace. I haven't liked the more recent seasons as much. It seems that they are doing too much with the characters' personal lives. (I liked just getting hints and tidbits, such as with Martin in 'Shadows'.) Also, I didn't like the addition of Elena, as I thought they had a hard enough time getting everyone (except Jack and possibly Samantha) screentime as it was. Plus, I'm not too fond of the character of Elena anyway, the screentime issue aside.

I have been fairly consistent in my like for Cold Case; it has maintained its level of quality throughout its seasons. Thus, as my love for WaT has waned, Cold Case has taken over as my favorite procedural and I'd have to answer Cold Case to your question.

I like both but without a trace wins by a little

That's a tough question. Both of them have those episodes that put you through ringer. Sometimes they are so unbelievably sad it makes me cry. But, by just a very slim margin, I'm going to go with Cold Case.

Without a trace is a great show. I think it might give people the idea that there are people out there our side when something goes wrong. (The police and such)
