when aaron was about to break babes record,he recieved death threats,now bonds is about to break the hr record,hes stressing because all people can talkabout is his steroids or his attitude.get over it people.dont you realise records are made to be broken?whether you like it ,or them.who said you had to be the all american good guy to break record?

i know his hair fell out from stress....its just a figure of speech.the point is that its stressful when try ing to break records because people cant understand that records were made to be broken...no matter how hallow...get over it,its gonna happen.

Excellant point. Records are set, records are broken, its the continuity of the game. The problem is we cant pick who we want to break these records, so its inevitable that there will be a player who really doesnt want the spotlight or a player who has a lot of baggage. Maris hitting 61 HRs is really a defining moment in record breaking,because here was this kid, perhaps not the most talented hitter, breaking Ruths record.Plus, he really didnt want the fame.Mantle was golden boy, who SHOULDVE broken the record,but this season perhaps characterized why he could never really break it himself(because of injuries). As far as Bonds is concerned, he IS going to break it,steriods or no. Accept it.They way I look at, Bonds became such a disciplined hitter, and I always respected that. Steriods cant do that. I will give him his due because hitting 755 HRs is still a very difficult thing to do.

Roger Maris eventough he had a buzz cut hair was falling out due to stress. The stress of breaking Babe Ruth record and also having a race with Mickey Mantle . Mantle for the favorite of the fans . I believe Mantle and Maris would have broken the record if Mantle was not injured.

yeah , his hair was falling out from the stress, babe ruth was an icon and yankee fans didn`t want maris to break the record , if it had to be broken they wanted their favorite to win it -mickey mantle - there were only 20,000 + fans to see it when it happenned

he did not pull it out it was falling out from a stress condition.
that was 1961. Today it would be an ulcer or better diagnosis

Good for you, finally someone with some common sense. My wish is that we can all just sit back and enjoy the game of baseball, for what it is, and not try to be the judge and jury involving every issue.
