The ambulance parking garage next to the house we're going to be closing on has a fence dividing the two properties. It is a regular chain link fence, but with those privacy strips. A good number of strips are missing. Can I go over there and ask them to fix it? If all the strips were there, my yard would be very private. Or should I just go out and buy my own fence or shrubs?
(It is just where the local hospital parks their ambulances)

Plant the shrubs, it will look better than the fence anyway in a few years. You'll be glad you did it now rather than a few years. You can always ask, but if the fence is on their property they don't have to do anything unless its a hazard.

Better yet buy the strips and install them yourself. IT won't take long and it would be a lot cheaper than a whole new fence or shrubs and chances are if the owners see ya doing it they might come out and help.

There is not much you can do actually. Although a considerate neighbor would help, they are not obliged to, unless of course they just tore down the fence. Pay for it and MAKE SURE it is not encroaching on their property. You could probably file a claim for unjust enrichment. (ie. they are getting the benefit of the fence without contribution) but the likelihood of being sucessful in such a claim would be slim and the process is time and money consuming.

im sure you could ask them to fix it but they might laugh. i mean wouldn't u think its a little rude if someone said that to you? you should put up your own fence behind it if you prefer a different height or additional privacy. as the owner u are only entitled to what's on your property.

You can always ask them to pay half. I just did this with my neighbors, and I was really uncomfortable , but they were very nice and were 100% happy to go in 1/2 and 1/2.

go have a nice visit with them and offer to buy the strips if they will install them.

You can ask, but its up to them. If you can afford it, put your own fence up and you won't have to worry.

In this case, they would probably tell you if you don't like it, take care of it. That's the usual preference, you take care of you side, they take care of there's.
