Yes, you can leave your pc on permanently. It will not do any damage so long as the fans are working properly.
It is actually not good to constantly turn your computer on and off... it can damage the hardware.
My computer has been on for the past 4 years or so, only shutting down during a power outage, or throwing in another harddrive.

You might have a virus, or too many programs installed. Or is your pc really old? it should not take too long to boot up unless there is some problem with your machine.
Consider reformating your machines or taking it to a local PC store.
And if you switch it off at night we can burn up more coal and oil , have more free rock concerts and not have to worry about the environment being damaged.

It'll be alright.
My old Dell pc (7years old), i left that on 24/7 and that didnt overheat or damage anything....
And..cmon.. My old dell only had 1 fan cooling the whole case.. so it wont overheat mate.
And it should be ok, but i'd close all programs down and stuff, as that will stop the proccessor being overrun.

At work I always leave my PCs on - only reboot them when necessary for software or hardware installation.
At home though the noise of the fan drives me nuts - so I generally switch off just 'cos I'm a light sleeper!

It should be fine but take note that the PC was never designed to stay ON without accomplishing anything. Unlike many of us who care for the future, you would just be contributing more for global warming.

If you leave it on permanently, then it should last longer. The temperature cycling effect of all of the hardware heating up and coolinhg down once or twice a day will be more significant than the effect of leaving it on.

i guess you could but it would use up loads of energy.so i personally wouldn't but if you download things off the internet a lot then i suppose you might as well.also remember that on some broadband packages (if you have broadband) that they charge for the amount of time you spend on the internet, rather than having a set monthly fee.
