What qualifies guys who are working in Geek Squad, Best Buy?

What would Qualify me, what degrees? and how much do they get paid?

Being a Geek Squad Agent myself, I can tell you exactly what qualifications are needed. Of course this will vary depending on what manager actually ends up interviewing you.

First thing is to fill out an application online as this will initiate actual contact with Best Buy/GS.

An A+ is not necessary for employment at the Geek Squad, although it does help and is proof that you have working knowledge of what a computer looks like. ;)

Geek Squad isn't all about repairing computers, our main goal is to sell services to customers and bring in revenue, while fixing computers on the side. Some days you may not actually touch a computer.

Main technical qualifications are pretty simple. Know how to use troubleshooting software, know how to install hardware into pcs and macs if it's a bestbuy that sells them. Know how to backup and transfer data and be very familiar with security software packages and Windows.

Customer service qualifications are the norm. Be punctual, treat every customer with respect and most importantly, sell services and attempt to serve the customers as best as you can.

That about sums it up. If you like technology, know your away around a windows machine, have put together a computer yourself and have some customer service experience then you will be hired.

Pay starts anywhere from $9-$12/hr and goes up to about 15 depending on your position. A Counter-Intelligence Agent(the in-store techs) make an average of about $10.50/hr nationwide.
