Defend itself from Iran?Ha,ha,ha...
Well I doubt Israel would use atom bombs to attack Iran (and not in self defense)...It's not like after last summer Israel is very popular in the world,but using atom bomb,committing a genocide in Iran,that would too much to handle,even for Israel...Imagine how many innocent people would die and also imagine what effect would the use of such a bomb have not only in Iran,but also in the surrounding area...And I know at least two countries who wouldn't be so happy in case of an attack with conventional weapons in Iran...so I don't want to think what would happen to Israel in case they use an atom bomb on Iran...

As for Israel having nukes,well Olmert actually admitted that Israel has nukes when he said that "the Iranians were "aspiring to have nuclear weapons as America, France, Israel, Russia" "...

No, because Iran doesn't threaten Israel. Iran has never attacked another country, at least not for hundreds of years.

Israel might use atom bombs just to keep Iran from becoming more economically strong, however, this is highly unlikely. If it does attack Iran it will likely use conventional weapons. Since Israel has attacked neighboring states more times than Saddam Hussein's Iraq did, an attack on Iran by Israel (and it would NOT be defense) has some likelyhood of occuring. I still put it at under 50% chance in the next year.

Israel has never confirmed or denied having nuclear weapons, so this question is speculation on top of speculation.
Assuming Israel does have nukes:
In theory, if Israel's existence was threatened and a nuclear strike was the only option, Israel would choose to strike. However this would absolutely be a last resort; if Israel indeed has nuclear weapons then they had them in 1973 also, yet despite being very near to total defeat, Israel never used them. This shows that it would take a truely dire situation for Israel to strike.
I assume this quesiton relates to preventing Iran from achieving nuclear capability. If so, I don't think Israel would use a nuclear strike to destroy Iran's enrichment plants. A regular tactical strike would be sufficient.

Israel has never actually categorically confirmed nor denied if she has this type of power. But it's good for the Arab world to think she does, as it may act as a deterrent.

I doubt Israel would ever use the atom bomb. She would strike back if Iran attacked her, as any country would. Though as usual the world would probably criticise Israel for defending herself, the way it usually condemns her for looking after her welfare.

EDIT: You seem to forget that the Israelis take better care of the Palestinians than any of the Muslim nations. When Egypt controlled Gaza, she mined the borders so the refugees couldn't move. Jordan kept the Palestinians in awful refugee camps. Israel has built hospitals and schools in Gaza, and also constructed brand new housing. She also provides free water, food, electricity and medical care. And she does all of this for the people that want to destroy her, and who elected Hamas! The Israelis have offered peace time and time again, all they ask is that the Palestinians recognise the right of the Jewish state to exist, and to reject terrorism. The Palestinians refused every single time. And you know full well, whatever you say on here, that Israel has never threatened or desired to wipe out the Palestinians; she just wants peace.

Israel defend itself from Iran it's more like the other way round look what happened to lebonon.
Iran has done what India, china, America, Britain and France have done already. Iran is been a country that has fought back for many years, it will not stop fighting back and this is why America hate them. Israel can carry out assassinations, wars on large death scale and be supplied with large amount of dangerous weapons yet they get credit for it. Is it fair

And the ignorance continues.......
_________
@Allergic to truth,

I'm sure if you could ask Mordecai Vanunu he would tell you how many ILLEGAL ABombs Israel has.Just as illegal as anything Iran or N.Korea may or may not have.Deterrent,wow,Israel has the 4th best equipped army in the world,they have had Nuclear bombs since at least the 1970s,while Iran have only gained the technology recently (thats IF they have the technology,could just be sabre rattling on their part)...so whats the deterrent for?...is it to frighten other countries from attacking Israel or is it a way of saying we Israel can do as we please and if you try to stop our genocide of the Palestinians we will nuke you?Pehaps if Iran does have the know how to make a bomb it's a deterrent against Israel.
________
@Spannerbox,

It's you who is sadly misguided,Israel IS the agressor in the region,Mossad motto....BY DECEPTION THOU SHALT WAGE WAR!

BTW,if we had stayed out of Iraq in the first place we would have no need to "defend our shores"...and our troops wouldn't be getting killed in Americas war for oil programme.

Don't fall for the propaganda.

Iran will never have enough nuclear weapons to compare to Israel's arsenal. Iran will never be able to militarily threaten Israel.

Not a chance, after all despite all we here about the Israelis they are not the aggressors, it always Palestine, Iraq or of late Iran, Anyone who says different is sadly misguided. Israel has only ever defended its self,and who can blame them for that. we are doing the same at present in Iraq and defending our own shore's here at home, I do believe we went into Iraq on a pack of lies, but its too late to pull out now, and we have to see it through to the bitter end, otherwise it would have been a waste of British lives.

Of course not, Israel has no need to. They have an army that's second to the U.S. and is as strong, with allies like the U.S. and Britain there's just no need to.
I would guess if it were attacked by an atomic weapon, they may respond in the same way, any country would.

In theory, they wouldn't need to, as they are an (unofficial) protectorate of the U.S.

Although I believe Israel has nuclear arms, it would be American bombs that rained down on the vile Persians, searing their chadrs and melting their little Peugeot 309s.

*Addendum
For the "judges" that "thumbs downed" me: do you actually think the USA would stand idly by while Israel was pushed to the point of extinction? Thumb yourselves down. You're in denial, or something.
