Everywhere you look sense of humor is highly appreciated. When they're asked which personality features they would like their partners to have, people always mention sense of humor.

But is it really that useful? Isn't it more destructive? No one takes into consideration the necessity of a sense of reality or sense of responsibility.

@ Enrico Pallazzo, I didn't say having a sense of humor excludes having a sense of responsibility or vice versa. I just meant that sense of humor seems to be more appreciated when in reality other features are needed.

I think a sense of responsibility is more important. BUT not everyone is operating on a mental level that encompasses that term.

I find in general more people lack a sense of humor than lack a sense of responsibility. I think that the people that don't have the sense of responsibility give everyone a bad reputation cause all we hear these days is bad news. But i find lots of times at work i try to crack a joke with some of my customers and they just look at me like i'm stupid so I think that people should not be such sour pusses and get a sense of humor. Life does not need to be that serious all the time. Laughter is the best medicine and even drs agree that laughing is good for people.

I think it depends on what kind of relationship you have with that person.

For a partner I think people take a sense for responsibility for granted when they meet them and often break up when they realise it's missing. It's much easier to hit it off with someone who has a sense of humour!

For a friend it can be quite refreshing to have someone with a sense of humour rather than a sense of responsibility as you can just decide to take it easy and just have fun. Although a total lack of responsibility will prevent the friendship from getting a very close one can even destroy it quite quickly.

For a flatmate (I have two, one of each) I actually also prefer the humour kind as I feel more comfortable around them and they're less uptight. (I do all the bill sorting anyway...)

In the workplace a sense of humour is surely fun but someone without a sense of responsibility drives me completely mad in that situation. Why were they hired?

I would say that a sense of responibility is the one people should have more of but having a sense of humour is also an important sense to have as well otherwise it would be a very boring world.

i think they are both important, you need to laugh, it brings enjoyment. But Responsibity is also required, each of us needs to be responsible towards others, especially those close to us.
