I guess what you're really asking is, if you hang around with a lot of dim bulbs, does that make you feel brighter?
This is partly why I really don't hang out with people my own age and never did. Girls my age should be out partying and having a great time with other girls my age, but I find that when I do that, I surround myself with losers, and rather than feeling superior, I actually feel dumbed down. You're not really getting anything from them of any value to your intelligence, so you're actually demeaning your potential by being around them. (And the partying only makes it worse.)
So instead I've always hung out with older people (10+ years older) who are really smart. They tend to do activities that are more mature, challenging and exciting (like learning to fly a plane, rock climbing, hiking the App' Trail, scuba diving, etc.), and because I'm learning things from them, it makes me feel smarter and also become smarter.
That's why I fell in love with my husband (who is 20 years older than me, but lives life like he's in his early 30's, while I feel 10 years older than my age, so that's why we fit so well).
And although I've got a 149 IQ, I feel so much smarter because of all the inredible things I've learned to do in the past 4 years. That's stuff they don't measure on the IQ test.
So the answer is, NO. Hang around with brighter bulbs and they will help you to see the light.

Actually, if you happen to be, say, a member of Mensa, then "half the people you know" are probably quite a bit more intelligent than average. In fact, most of the people you know probably are. On the other hand, if you spend a lot of time with people not much smarter than a box of rocks, you could estimate that half (or more than half) of the people you know are below average intelligence. It all depends on your circle of acquaintances.
Now, if you were to talk about averaging the intelligence of the entire human population, then it would be correct to say that half of them are at or below average intelligence. Just as half of them are at or above average intelligence.
Now, how does that make *you* feel? ;-)
***Originally I was teasing, but now I'm feeling decidedly less congenial. In response to your snotty update, I will go ahead and answer your poorly thought out 'question' as follows: a statement that is blatantly false does not 'make' me feel anything one way or the other, except sad that you cannot seem to back up your supposed 163 "QI" with any sort of reasoned rationale. Even if it were true (which it is not) that half the people I know are below average intelligence, it would have no effect on how 'smart or not so smart' I feel personally. I don't base how I feel about myself on other people's characteristics, be they intelligence-related or otherwise.
I get the distinct impression that your entire question was simply an excuse to brag about your test score. At this point, I'm rather more interested in your EQ score, which seems to be far lower in comparison.
****Scratch that last bit. I'm actually not all that interested, come to think of it. The more words you say the more I feel the local median IQ dropping...I'd better sign off before the comparison gap starts making me feel so smart I have to start telling people my IQ score...

This statement is false on its face.
For example,
Jessica, IQ 60
Mary, IQ 70
John, IQ 80
Alex, IQ 250
Average IQ = (60+70+80+250)/4 = 115
Number of people with IQ below average intelligence = 3/4
3/4 does not equal 1/2.
Try again. The word you are probably searching for is median.

My friend, IQ or no IQ, as long as you have conscience, you can be somebody. Look at Albert Einstein for example. His brain may be small, but his hard works have been paid off.
This is to show that Einstein depends on his inventions by working hard and got his act together. By depending or telling people that you have a high IQ, it will most probably be practial and use the high IQ.
Cheers :)

The law of large numbers and the normal distribution both work for almost any trait to which you can assign a number. You are correct in saying that if I had a reasonably large circle of friends, for half of them their IQs would be below average, and for half of them their IQs would be above average FOR THAT SAMPLE OF FRIENDS.
You should remember that bright people tend to hang out with bright people, so any measurement of IQ scores for that bright person will result in an above-average IQ compared to the general population. Similarly, anyone who is not that bright is unlike to have a group of friends all of whom are in MENSA; it's more likely that the average IQ of that person's sample of friends will be below average, compared to the general population.
Anyone who relies on an IQ score for his or her self-esteem is a rather sad person. People have been measuring IQ for about a century right now, and there is still a strong debate about what an IQ score actually measures. More importantly, an IQ score does not measure success in life, although IQ does seem to be related to financial and social success; this correlation is imperfect.

lots of people inflate their scores. lots of people by no skill get examined because of the fact it is costly and easily people who tutor a getting to understand incapacity or present are oftentimes administered the try. lots of people state online try scores that are ineffective and just about constantly inflate the score. as a result, if somebody has been examined professionally they're the two shiny or have getting to understand disabilities. in the event that they're answering questions for relaxing they oftentimes lean in the direction of the shiny spectrum; even nonetheless, online exams have made it so as that each and every physique is a genius. human beings quote the flaws thinking they're actual- and actual each and every physique desires to confirm. on your "severe IQ human beings won't be able to function in existence" you would be impressive and you would be incorrect. hassle-free IQ human beings can or won't be able to function in existence. existence has to do with EQ (emotional intelligence) it is separate than IQ. nevertheless, there is oftentimes some social isolation in case you're on the perimeter of the bell curve in view which you think of in yet in a various way and are extra mentally mature than your age group. a lot of human beings study the thank you to work together with society as an entire. yet like maximum they oftentimes flow to love minded human beings to style their intimate social group. I take average offence on your concept that top IQ persons won't be able to discover sturdy jobs or function in society. i'm quite happy with existence, have many sturdy relationships with human beings from all walks of existence, and am pursuing an training to qualify me for professional jobs. The arbitrary selection assigned to me did no longer outline my actuality or decrease my potentialities in existence.
