Desensitization therapy should work.
But I suggest that you start with reading books about spiders and learn about the particular spiders you are likely to encounter where you live.

Face your fear. Buy one of those little spiders at a pet store and keep it in a tank.

Don't worry they are afraid of us as we are afraid of them.
try watching spider movies that may help conquer your fear
there is a spider movie called Eight Legged Freaks even though that is a really creepy movie (thank god spiders are not as big as they are in the movie!!)

To help get over my hear some I went to Petco and asked to hold the trantula. I still pretty freaked by them. Try getting brave enough to squash them. I wouldn't even kill a spider I'd just scream, so being able to kill one was a major feat.

are we talking about a general, creep-you-out type of fear? Or is it a phobia? The first is much easier to overcome as opposed to phobias. So, which is it?
