I'm 21 yrs. old and I was planning on going on a 3 month road by myself. I really want to go but some of my friends are telling me not to because I could get killed, and others are routing me on. So, how bad could it really be?

Road trips are so much fun, I'd hate to think someone was thinking of not going for fear of personal safety.

You know, it would be 100% safer if there were two of you. Even two women are MUCH safer than a single woman.

I think if it was me I would just try to stay out of bad-looking neighborhoods, stay in well-lit areas at night, etc. Lots of people your age travel all over!

1. Which country?
2. I agree that it is not advisable. Even if you don't have any problems connected with crime, which I wish you don't ever encounter, it is not safe to travel alone for so long. Anything can happen, you could get sick, have an accident, car break down in the middle of nowhere, etc., and you wouyld have to face it alone, and since you will be on the road for so long no one will know exactly your whereabouts. It's better to at least find a friend and do this together.

What country are you wanting to cross? At any rate, I would think that you could be ok if you travelled smart, and stayed away from high crime cities, make sure you stay close to civilization and know where you are and where the police dept is. Do not go out alone at night, and stay around public places. like stores and restaurants. I believe you should take someone with you because you will be safer and enjoy the company.

Its 100% bad! 3 months by your self! On a road. Dont do it. If you do do it bring along about 4-6 friends. Going alone, the worst idea.

I'd imagine it's safe, but I'd take some auto mechanic classes, cause you'll probably need them while driving through the deserts or through the mountains.
