Adding the word "ever" to your question alters the meaning drastically. I suppose you want to know who the best Indian spinner is after Kumble's retirement. Among the current pick of Indian spinners, Harbhajan Singh's record makes him the best of the lot. At present he is going through a lean patch though and out of the Indian team too. But the performance of Powar or new comer Piyush Chawla is none too encouraging either. So it is Harbhajan. But only time will tell whether Harbhajan remains the best Indian spinner ever, post Kumble.

Rookie leg-spinner Piyush Chawla and left-arm seamer Rudra Pratap Singh produced tidy bowling spells as India restricted Ireland to a modest 193 in a cricket one-dayer at the Stormont Ground here on Saturday.

Chawla, who made his ODI debut last month against Bangladesh, picked up 3 for 29 and his Uttar Pradesh team-mate RP Singh grabbed 2-36 to help the visitors gain the upper hand.

Right arm pacer S Sreesanth also picked three wickets but was expensive, conceding 50 runs.

The Irish innings revolved around a defiant half-century by wicketkeeper-batsman Niall O’Brien who struck a confident 52.

O’Brien, who hit four fours in his 77-ball knock, shared a vital 48-run stand for the seventh wicket with captain Trent Johnston to boost the scoreboard which was reading a sorry 111-6 at one stage.

As a "spinner" Harvajan Singh can fill up his gap but as a "leg spinner" we should think the name of Pijush Chowla.
