Randy Johnson pitched the ball that hit the bird in mid-air. He hit the bird on March 24, 2001 during the seventh inning of a spring training game agianst the San Francisco Giants.

it was Randy Johnson and I think it was the time when he was first playing with the D-backs. It was amazing and sad at the same time. I think he did it against the dodgers or the braves in Arizona back in 2004? (not really sure, but it was a few years ago)
