I will help u..
in the flame test u can find the difficult in

1) distinguishing the red color of calcium or strontium
.........calcium is brick red
.........strontium is crimson red

2) Perform the flame test with a clean platinum wire .Incase of it unavalability nichrome wire may be used ....

3) Certain metals like barium ,take time in imparting color to the flame...So observe the flame atleast 2-3 min....

4) never dip platinum wire into CONC. HCl..for cleaning.

5) Do not make the paste of the salt in HCl used for cleaning the platinum wire.....

6) instead of platinum wire...never use a test-tube or a match stick.........
