I have a lot of experience acting and I want to get serious, but I don't know where to start...somebody said John Robert Powers is a ripoff, so I wanted to know what other people thought.
I am thinking about going with Showbiz Ltd...is that a good company? I can't think of another way to get a good agent without using a company.

Yes, John Robert Powers and Casablanca's is a rip off. They are just known for alot of advertising in the back of magazines, thats why they seem so popular.
I'm not sure what area you live in, so I cannot tell you who to go to. I never heard of Showbiz Ltd. But I can tell you this...you do not need a modeling or acting "school" to make it. A talent agency is where to go because they do have small classes and pin point what you need. Not silly things like makeup, poise and all that other stuff. I wish you much luck! I could go on and on of the do's and don't. I should write a book :)

Showbiz Ltd is not a legitimate Talent Agency, if that is your question.

Always remember the following: if a company, modeling agency, talent agency . . .ask you to pay MONEY, leave immediately and do NOT look back, as they are a SCAM.

To get an Agent to meet with you, you MUST perform in plays. How do you think to meet an agent unless you are performing on stage?

When you get a role, mail a letter or postcard to the Agent that interests you and invite him or her to see your performance.

Any agency that asks you to pay them any money before they actually get you work {PAID WORK} is a rip off. Hands down, end of story. Agencies should be commission based only. If they want a service fee, or anything up front--run.
