Ok, I think the egyptians took it a little too far by saying they feel insulted that they had to compete. Although their's is a true wonder. But isn't it rediculous having something like the statue of Librety in that list all together?? I mean what's wonderous about the statue??
It's less than a century since it's been built. It is completely known where, how and by whom it was built.
Come to think of it, the Egyptians were right asking 'what the heck?' It's kind of like having Paris Hilton against Bono in a singing contest, know what I mean??

The Pyramids were given an honorary Wonder status and on this new list are considered the eighth of the seven wonders. But either way, this new list was poorly conceived in the first place. And it is not officially recognized either. It was simply started by a private organization, with their own short list of entries. Also, any person could vote. It did not matter if the voters was poorly educated, or even if they were a complete imbecile that just picked the prettiest colors. So essentially, all you get is a list of the things people liked.

As for the Egyptian reaction. They do possess the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, and are quite protective of them.

If your goiong to have the statue then u should have the Eiffel tower, the taj mahal, the empirre state building, the alaskan pipeline and a whole bunch of other stuff. nothing can compete with the pyramids.

And the Hebrew, Jewish usa ones you're touching on, stayed interior the OT. have you ever asked your self: Why did Jesus constantly communicate with God as "His Father" as damaging to creating use of the YHWH tetragrammaton? (which, via-the-way, has no place interior the Greek NT) it is because of the fact once you convey the tetragrammaton into the NT, you imprecise the identity of who Jesus Christ is. interior the NT there's a metamorphosis of covenants, and a gratifying of OT delivers. Now, rather of the blood of goats, and lambs, we mindset to God via a clean and residing way. and thanks to this God places such an emphasis on his Son for salvation. Now, they're referred to as 'witnesses' for CHRIST. Mark sixteen:17;Acts a million:8. "it is the stone which became into set at nought of you builders, it is grow to be the top of the nook. Nether is there salvation in the different: for there is not any different call decrease than heaven given between adult men, wherein we would desire to be saved." Acts 4:11-12. And that call is Jesus, no longer the tetragrammaton.

Yeah i know what you mean.
But think of it in this way it is a symbol for a great achievement, victory,or winning. I'm from India. if some one says why Gandhi
is known for his greatness,well we Indians know why. Similarly the Americans know the Importance of it and have a great regard for them and it is a big deal to them.I mean it's some thing to marvel at. if you 'd built it and some one had questioned it what would you say?

No, I think the "nominations" were good ones, moreover, the votes were the ultimate arbiters or decision makers (;
